Marie is Professor of Exercise and Health in the Centre for Exercise Medicine, Physical Activity and Health at Ulster University.

Marie’s research interests include 

• The effects of physical activity and exercise, in particular walking, on health
• Designing and testing interventions to increase physical activity and reduce sedentary behaviour in schools 
• The development and communication of physical activity guidelines for public health
